(First Grow) WBS Germination/Colonization Slow?
    #11262674 - 10/16/09 11:22 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I recently inoculated 2ccs of Camboadia into 2 wbs quart jars on the 12th, and 2ccs of Amazon into 2 other wbs jars on the 13th. I still have yet to see any signs of colonization or germination of spores, and I feel as though I've messed up. Should I toss them and totally redo?

I also made the mistake of filling up the jars to about 90%-100% full of WBS.

I just think all I need is some reassurance. I've used the search feature, but the results seem to be mixed.

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

It's just that I've seen people who have lots and lots of mycelium in their jars in that amount of time (compared to mine). Is there any way that I'll know that I actually have spores growing in my jars?

those people are using agar, G2G, or LC to inoculate..

spores take longer to germinate and start showing growth

looool. Well, what happened was that I put it to about 75%-80% full for shaking room, but after shaking it once, I guess it expanded(?) and filled up the whole jar.

Alright, thanks for the help guys. (: I'll keep you up on tabs on any other questions/queries I have. Happy shrooming!:mushroom2:

So there are no visual indicators of germination?
