Slow mushroom growth
    #11262485 - 10/16/09 10:48 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

My mushrooms seem to be growing very slowly, My RH is 95-100. I have a very small fish tank aerator set up pumping air into a small glass of water inside the terrarium and im fanning a few times a day. Temperature is around 20 - 25c, also have a small 6500k light just above the terrarium.
My mushrooms have small white specks on the caps which when rubbed gently come off. I thought this might have something to do with me misting but im not sure. I also have an emormous amount of pins popping up on all sides and no aborts yet.  I may just be paranoid.

There fine these things take time. sometimes the white scaly stuff on the caps could be from misting with tap water depending how hard your water is i noticed a difference from using Bottled when I first started to tap

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

Yeah i have been using tap water, would filtered water be better? Or just not at all, cause i only got my hygrometer today and i think i may have been over misting quite alot.

no tap is fine.. but you are misting too often

mist 2-3 times a day fan 4-6

always fan after misting

you need to fan / buy an oscillating fan if you havent already those things need FAE

fanning a few times a day often isnt enough they need to be fanned at least 3 times an hour

I usually have it oscillating from a distance.  At times I've even ran two fans at once with the lid off for a while.  Of course, this will deplete rh, but I do it sometimes when I'm around and can watch it, and can keep it up for about an hour at least.
