Why are we in M&P?
    #11259485 - 10/16/09 01:52 PM (8 years, 8 days ago)

have you ever wondered what separates you from the average person? a person that might not think twice about what might be rational or irrational? a person that won't consume enthogens because they're drugs? a person that doesn't believe in fairy tales? some that takes existence at face value?

what is the reason we're predisposed to seek truth outside of the conventional mediums, and instead seek it in places considered silly by our culture?

why, even though i have been brought up in a culture and family that looks at such things as silly, am i drawn to them? why do they resonate with me and not the majority? how do i know these things, greater intelligences-extraterrestrials-spirits-something much greater-are true?

Yea man, It's weird. I also feel like "hinderances" have led me to this stuff. What the average person would think of as a "disability" has led me to seek answers.

The Law of One, channeled material, does speak of "Wanderers", people who were previously living in higher densities, who chose to incarnate on Earth to assist in this process of "awakening" to what we really are. Humanity is confused right now.

When in History has there been a chance for people like us to gather and speak our minds? The internet is truly an amazing tool. I can't/don't talk about this stuff with my closest loved ones. I'm starting to open up more. But there is always the fear they will think you are crazy.

most beings are attached to their mind to the extent they will not question its reality

their mind will question the reality of everything else, but not itself

word, i'm really happy that i can learn from you and speak to you guys. i'd really like friends like yourselves. i find that when i start talking about these things with people i get funny looks and i'm not really getting through to them. it's really frustrating, i've all but stopped. my girlfriend, though she probably thinks i'm crazy, still listens at least.

Haha, I always think about these things...maybe we were predisposed to discover it all  We are the ones that choose to listen to the universe's calling. I have always been interested in the mystical, magical, paranormal, and psychedelic parts of life...it's been an essential! But so many people could care less. It can be frustrating at times living in a society where ignorance rules supreme. If you are considered "different" in any sense, you could be totally shunned. But our differences are what make everything so interesting and we are the ones that will create the future  My heart stays open for those who cannot see. But I always remember I am not alone and this is where I need to be  Maybe one day we will all meet each other! Hey, we found one another on here, right?

You wouldn't have been tortured in the past either because you're not scientists.

For me it's because I'm one of the last true scientists, by definition, the paranormal is the only branch that still has new discoveries.. everything that is normal is already discovered

Since everything is normal, there are only things that aren't understood yet.

That's exactly my point, to me the paranormal is everything that is not understood yet, the mysteries.. that what is understood is not interestingto me

i actually am a scientist.. but i see what you mean. i think anyone that might threaten the church establishment with any kind of thinking other than jesus is lord, was tortured to death. for example, i believe there is nothing to be scared of and that there is no hell. i would get tortured for that. i study physics, i would get tortured for that.

Good questions. Heres a few more. Why do some of us spontaneously become lucid in dreams all our lives while the average person rarely has lucid dreams? Why are some of us so prone to serendipity we don't find knowledge, knowledge finds us? I think its just a simple matter of being free thinkers. We question the reality we seem to be in and we know there may be more to the territory than the map shows.

What Diaboleros is spot on. Science is about turning the unknown into the known. The unknown is just that. Unknown. We do not know whats out there.

QFT

Within 2 months of dating my girlfriend, I started springing far out ideas on her.
She took 'em in stride, never fully buying into them, but never fully dismissing them either.
That's so ideal that I was beside myself with glee.

There's a reason I drift between PS&P and M&P and that's to keep from getting too far to either side. It's a balancing act -- where does your imagination start to run away with the show, and where does the reality of your imagination begin to manifest? It's kind of like saying, how can I create a vivid, imaginative world, while keeping myself humble. Humbleness being important because I don't want to be THE creator. That's a hell of a lot of pressure, and in fact, terribly lonely. If I can be humble and delegate some of that creation to others, well, I'm not so lonely, and, I'm not so pressured. In order to allow others to be creators, I have to realize that their reality is just as real as mine -- often times this means giving in to the consensus. There is nothing wrong with a little give and take in the creation game.

Well, I find that there's a much clearer distinction now that the other forum has removed the word "spirituality" from its name.  I now post mysticism-related topics here, and discuss philosophy in the other forum.  I first started posting here when I began having profound, transformative spiritual experiences, and couldn't really define these insights that were coming to me in a rational way.  Since then, I've developed a philosophical, metaphysical framework for my beliefs, and even if they're not enough to convince other people, I feel I can now hold my own in a philosophical debate over them.

But even so, there are still other things that I...well, "believe" isn't really the right word...but there are ideas that I like to entertain that I don't necessarily have a rational defense for.  And as much as I value philosophical inquiry, I don't like having to always be accountable for every speculative idea I might have.

Incorrect. Scientists were only persecuted when their work conflicted with church dogma.
Newton was free to develop science but had to keep his mysticism secret for fear of persecution.
This same fear of persecution was the original reason secret mystical societies had to be kept secret.
