Hey guys and gals. I use to frequent this site many years ago, maybe like 1o years ago.actaully ....i used to moderate this hunting forum. But I doubt there is too many who would remember ole psylosymon.I gotta say the shroomery is really looking sharp and I really love how there is more of a world wide community now.All the mexican and european pickers, its awesome to see you here now!

With that said,is anyone in the vancouver area hitting anything yet?!Its beeen so dry I havent seen barely any fungi growing anywhere.

well i, like you psylosymon, am in the same boats. I haven't found any mushrooms popping up anywhere. The recent dryness must be responsible because normally by this time i am actively looking through all the different mushrooms growing around. but now im just waiting for any. The real rains have come and im hoping things will jumpstart this coming week. we will see. I am doing rain dances in my mind.

Ya it has been pretty much dry since april or may!! it used to be the lower rainland but now i dont know.
But I did head out today in the beautiful rain but there wasnt any magics popping up yet.Found 2  kinds of non psilo 's growing, only maybe 10 of them .but atleast SOMETHING is growing.
Although Van and Washington are considered PNW and are close it is very different in each area.

As for rules, sorry man, i have a terrible memory and the things i forget easiest are rules and regulations.

Van is doing good so far. Things are a little dry but if your looking in the right areas for sure you will find what you are looking for.

The patches I found last year are good this year regardless of the dry weather we have had this fall.

Though all the rain we have had the last few days should help for everyone looking.

Hi, welcome back.  I will let your violation of rule # 4 slide since you used to moderate the forum.

I wish I had found it back in '99.

There haven't been many posts from BC this year.  We don't really have many members there that like to post photos and we need more.  So please stay around and post pictures of every mushroom you can find.

I'm from BC! Been finding lots of edibles but that's usually more my focus. I am considering being an active seeker, though. I'll keep y'all posted after tomorrow.

I advise any noob looking to identify mushrooms to fill out the ID form and provide clear photographs. Knowledge is a privilege and deserves respect. Let's give due props to the experts!

cameal, ya chants i have been told have been growing for a while.mushrooms in the forest must have more moisture retention being under the canopy.

3imogor, Nans definetly has some good spots. The island is waaaay wetter than the mainland.Towards cedar i think there is lots of fields.I personally would also be looking throughout the city in bark mulch planters for baoes and cyans. Also if there is new housing developments or schools look through the grass for stunzis.I found this patch of stuntzis at an elementary soccer field that was like 2000 shrooms strong!!!Filled a frigging safeway bag in like 20 minutes!
And being on the coast,I'd maybe try to search for azurescens.I know they are native to astoria but hell its still the same coast. You never know.

Hi cactu, K onda amigo! I love seeing these mexican mushrooms.for years i only saw them in stamets bible but its so nice to see other pics of yugs, and aztecs and mexicanas etc.

Me and a friend have been looking for awhile. Most we have been able to find is some amanitas muscaria, a couple baeocystis and lots of lbm's that were insignificant. There were many chantrelle's in lynn canyon, but most are decaying. A few hated amanitas all around the mainland.

We've been hunting for actives, but mostly for cyanescens type habitat. We have looked in Lynn Valley for them as well as forest near Peace Arch border crossing with no luck in either place for cyanescens. Amanitas muscaria we found a large number out near peace arch as well as all around burnaby and other parts of vancouver. Unfortunatly these are not nearly as desirable due to toxins found within them which can be dangerous.

I'm in Vancouver as well; so far only muscaria and some oysters and armillaria in the forest.  The conditions are getting better though, and I'm sure I'll be finding some actives around here early next week.

after todays rains hell ya.wont be long for sure.

keg did you get any pics of your baeos? for as long as i have been picking i have only found them maybe 5 times.

A cool cyan habitat you may want to look for is that invasive bamboo. In the past my friends back yard was full of that bamboo as well as full of cyans and aeuruganosas(cant remember the spelling).

Hey thanks for the tip.  I've never really thought about bamboo; always figured they just liked alder.
