Can i mix my jars of mycelium when...

I have used quite small jars with WBS substrate, my jars are all now nearly fully colonized and as they are small jars i wondered if when it comes to casing can i mix all three jars of Mycelium into one Tupperware box to fruit them.

Yes you can, especially if they are all the same strain. The genetics will be similar enough to comingle successfully. Even if they're not the same, it could work.

yes you can mix them, if they are the same strain. but I don't sugest fruiting WBS alone with a casing. Do some research on bulk, thats what you want.

the short answer is yes. However if ya don't mind the xtra bit of time then you could easily double the weight if ya use your small jars for spawning. Not sure if ur working with diffrent strain or if there all the same, but once you trigger fruit, then the compition between them kinda shuts off. The feeding frenzy slows to a craw.

It would take a bit longer to colonize, since there are three different strains competing for the substrate, and when it finally fruits, it would be very uneven. It would be like three mice sharing a cage, as opposed to one mouse. Less room for all, and the amount of food to keep them sustained would need to be much more. If you kept the same amount of food as for one mouse, they would all suffer.

yes. You can buy these 16 cup tubberware at walmart for storing cookies. i burnt holes and stiffed with polyfill, then set on window sill. I've also had similar results using modified milk jugs

Any of the bulk teks you find on here are great. Tried and true recipes just pick one and go with it. I spawn my WBS to Black kow brand cow manure from home depot and verm.

What are you using to case the WBS substrate in the tubs and the milk carton??
Is WBS hard to fruit from??

But incorrect.
Don't confuse 'strain' with 'species'. Strains of the same species don't compete with each other. They usually combine into a single organism, but even if they're non-compatible strains, they'll each simply occupy the part of the substrate they were able to colonize, and then fruit normally. You could take ten jars of spawn, all inoculated from either the same 'strain' or even each inoculated with different 'named strains' and mix them all at spawning to bulk. It would be no different from any other multispore grow.
If you want to talk about 'competing' for substrate, you'd need to be mixing different species, such as Shiitake and Oyster in the same substrate. RR

interesting.. so no extra time lapse from putting separate colonies of the same strain.. one isn't stronger than the other.. they wont fight..? I thought they would.

I’m a fan of the FC.
You can also grow in containers. In the pic below I used a small ice cream tub with four holes drilled near the bottom stuffed with polyfill and had a plastic bag loosely covering the top. I used the bag for FAE (fresh air exchange). It’s used as a bellows. Push the bag down the air flows out, pull the bag up and the air flows in. Someone else on here came up with the idea so I tried it and it works well.
To keep it simple, I spawn the WBS at 50/50 (50% WBS/50% substrate). Others use less WBS to more substrate but this works for me.
One of the easiest substrates to make is coir/coffee/gypsum at 70/20/10. I find this works very well and you‘re not messing with straw and horse shit.
For casing I use a 50/50 mix of peat/verm.
