Tripping to country music
    #1125766 -

I don't recommend tripping to any music that doesn't celebrate love and happiness.

However I know people trip to many different kinds of music. Has anyone here ever tripped while listening to country music??

Anybody ever jam out to "Boot-scoot Boogie" while peaking?

Anybody ever see God while blasting some Kenny Chesney?

I'll leave you with the lyrics to "Okie From Muskogee" by Merle Haggard. Read those while you think about my question.

In reply to:
Written by Roy Burris and Merle Haggard.
(? Tree Publishing.)
From "Best of the Best of Merle Haggard", ? 1967, Capitol.

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
An' we don't take our trips on LSD.
We don't burn no draft cards down on Main Street;
We like livin' right, an' bein' free.

We don't make no party out of lovin';
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo;
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy,
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.

And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave 'Old Glory' down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all.

Hey, leather boots are still in style for manly footwear;
Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen.
An' football's still the roughest thing on campus,
And the kids there still respect the college dean.

And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave 'Old Glory' down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all.

And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all,
In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.

well once me and some firends played some of kenny rogers greatest hits as we peaked hehe call it weird but there was something never right with us again once we heard "The Gambler" sing...
On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness
'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak...

and watched Deliverence

You can say that again.

Hey unityxx311, did you listen to "Just Dropped In (To see what condition my condition was in)" when you were listening to Rogers?

I'm not trying to encourage you to listen to country music while tripping dude. You might embed lameness deep into your psyche.

i think it the lameness already sank in... i mean after hearing the gambler we went on to listen to his songs... lady, ruby?, his duet with dolly parton of islands in the stream?.. geesh i must say it was right around the fear n loathing part where he took too much adrienal gland and woke up in the godzilla legs... screwed us forever

You're not screwed forever. Don't worry.

You might want to watch what you expose yourself to when in that very suggestable state.

That's just my opinion though.

I like some country. For instance...

Johnny Cash
Patsy Cline
Willie Nelson
Hank Williams Jr.

I'll listen to some other older guys like Merle Haggard if someone has it. I sure wish I had that Okie From Muskogie song for laughs.

I wouldn't listen to any country while tripping though.

Horton is not country. They're rockabilly or psychabilly or whatever. One of those.

Country music is great man! I like blue-grass. If you mean "New Country" like Faith Hill or something I would probably agree. I'm not really familiar with most "country". I couldn't tell you any Dolly Parton songs that I like or I don't know any Conway Twitty songs for example. I like old traditional stuff. There's a radio program called "American Backroads" that I try to catch. He plays a lot of cool stuff old and new.

Yeah older stuff is 100% cooler than the crap that's out now IMO.

Bluegrass is cool to.

Country is alright as long as its not the stuff thats all all about marketing, Johnny Cash and Willie are great imo.

Bluegrass is a entire world away from country, check out Max Creek.

hell yeah ive tripped to most kinds of music, even country!  :smile:

While I probably wont ever do that again, it was FUN!  A nice change, a little crazy tho.  Ive also smoked alot of weed while listening to country.  Consequences of being a truck driver out in the country with nothing but an old radio, a sandwich, and some joints.  :grin:

Last time we tripped, we were trying to set up my friend's father's very sophisticated stereo system to play a CD we had made for the trip. The thing was like a 1000 disc changer (ridiculous) and had about 500 buttons and settings. It was horrid. Anyway, it was really funny because we kept try to play the CD and all the stereo would play was a Melissa Etheridge CD that I guess was somewhere in the stereo. Funny.

Err, as far as country goes, I bet you'd be able to appreciate it on shrooms, but I'd rather have a greater appreciation of music I already appreciate.
