Liquid Culture Help
    #11256787 - 10/15/09 10:28 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

Hey everyone..What happens when you use a beginner tek for liquid culture and you seem to be producing slow results?  This link is the tek used.

Beginners Tek For Liquid Culture

There is one half pint jar inoculated with Cambodian spores, the second half pint jar has Penis Envy.  Approximately 2cc's of each strain per jar.  Karo corn syrup was used.  Water used is from the tap.  Looking into the jars snowflake like stuff is visible floating around with the spores.  This is the progress after about a week. Thought liquid cultures should be finished in a weeks time with "clouds" of mycelium growing.

Any input or helpful info?  Shroomery search is sketchy for this kinda question.  Thanks alot

Next time, I would advise using a PC if you are making LC's. If you have one.

I boiled the jars and did everything following popular teks on here to the best of my ability.  Room Temperature is 80 degrees fahrenheit mostly.  Perhaps another tek should be tried?  Any other input, just trying to discover the pros of having liquid cultures.

A week with specs are the results i regularly get.  My LC's are usually done in 2-3 weeks

Its going to take at least 4 to 5 days to see anything at all. The spores have to germinate. Also if you keep the temp at about 85 and stir the LC every day to break it up and get it all mixed it grows alot faster

I'd also use some sort of filter, tyvek or micropore tape works well for me.

You can inject through and seal it again with micropore. Just avoid getting the filter wet when you swirl.
