Okay, So I have recently gotten my spores, canning jars, and brown rice flour. I have been to many locations to find vermiculite and cannot find it anywhere. Is there some kind of substitute can use instead or any other ways I can grow them? If you have a link or two that would be great as well.
I know there have been many posts about doing it for perlite, and I know you cannot do this. I have looked for over a half hour and cant find anything so please help

Try locally owned nurseries and hardware stores.
Coir, which can be found in most pet stores, can work and you'll have some to try bulk.

Yeah check out a local nursery. You can get a big bag for 20 bucks. Lowes and home depot don't carry the stuff usually the mom and pop nursery's carry that kind of stuff.

Your local hydrophonic shop should have vermiculite and perlite, just google it for one near your area.

NineInchNails made a post about a month ago about vermiculite being sold cheap as loose fill attic insulation at hardware stores. Maybe check that out if you can't find a store close by from Roadkill's link.

... really? I found it at Lowe's, inside where all of the special potting soils and amendments are (cactus soil, african violet soil, spanish moss, etc. "Sta-Green")

You might want to give a try at your local food stores in your area. Many food stores that sell house plants and the like seem to carry it. Coir would be another choice, however I myself have never tried it in a substrate, casing yea. Mycelium easily feeds off of cardboard. Many pet stores carry shredded recycled paper for beeding. You might be able to further break the stuff down and use it. But the best choice for you would be to continue looking for vermiculite. I'm sure it's around you providing you live in the US of A.

I agree WBS is just as easy and much more rewarding

I got mine at lowes also. Some stuff they have in store isn't on the website though. It said my local lowes didn't carry verm or gypsum but it did.
