"Daylight" fluorescents are often in or near the range you want. It usually says the color temp somewhere, if you read the fine print.

You can buy the fixtures and the bulbs separately, if needed. The color temp should be listed somewhere. Yeah, daylight is what you want.

If you have a Menards near you you can buy any sort of light for growing any sort of fungus fruit or plant you can imagaine, not sure how all the stores keep there lighting stocked but the one around my neck of the woods has everything you need.

Go to the hardware store and buy a 150watt clamp light. probably about $11. Than you can fit the large size CFL bulb ("daylight", 6,500 kelvin range) which will be plenty of light. Unless you need long fluoroscent fixtures for a greenhouse or shelves. ~P~

It wouldn't cause side pinning, which just happens sometimes anyways. There isn't anything wrong with side-pinning, folks just complain about the difficulty of having to pick them off the sides. ~P~

Hm... I dunno. Try it both ways, see which you like better. Start with the easiest way.

I often hang a 4 foot fluorescent vertically in front of my mini-greenhouses. The light bounces all around in there anyway. If they start to turn towards the light and it bothers you, rotate the tub so they'll grow the other way. RR

It will work for now but you really want 6500 kelvin light.
Go buy a bulb F17T8 that is in Daylight, they usually have blue package and say daylight on them.
