My mushrooms have pinned and are all growing in different directions so im finding it hard to put my cakes anywhere without crushing one side of them. I have now placed a small daylight range 6500k light bulb just resting on top of my terrarium and i plan to have this run 12h on 12h off. Will this cause my mushrooms to grow upwards instead of just anywhere?. Im using a shotgun terrarium with clear sides.

Thats the beauty about Direct light on top  they will grow straighter towards the light and not everywhere for the most part

Often, the light reflects off the perlite, and fruits are encouraged to grow down into it.  I prefer lighting from the sides, but as long as you have the correct spectrum light now, they'll do fine either way.  Make sure it's far enough above the terrarium not to cause heat buildup.  A couple of inches should be plenty.

If my terrarium is cooler then it should be is it then alright to have the light closer to it to keep it warm? thats pretty much what my plan is.

cooler temps are great for dense fruit..
but i dont think that a CFL is gonna add much heat anyway

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

Also remember that FC's are a few degrees warmer then the rooms air. Mine is constantly 3-4 degrees celcius warmer
