What now?
    #1124206 - 12/09/02 07:53 AM (21 years, 3 months ago)

My cakes are starting to pin - that much is obvious.  One batch of EQ's, one batch of PR's.  Both pin just fine - but how long do I have to wait for them to grow and fruit?  Some of the pins are a half inch tall.  I have them in 90%-100% humidity at 75 degrees.  I have them on (pretty much) a 12/12 light cycle, though sometimes I give them less light.  They have been pinning since Thursday.  How long do I have to wait for a friggin' shroom to actually grow to maturity?

it takes them a while to get started but after they get a few centimeters then they start growing fast...you can crank up the heat to colonization temps(~86) if you really want to see them grow.

will that extra heat really make a big difference? What are the benefits and negatives of doing this. I know pins need lower temp to initiate but if it's pinning awesome then the temps should proabably be turned up right?

wait until all the pins are established, and then you can crank it up. as for efficacy, have you seen jars colonize in the low 70's vs the mid 80's? night and day difference(this fungus likes 86F). this is not a necessary step, but if you're hell-bent on seeing faster growth then go for it
