My friend ate a gallerina.

So my friend went hunting the other day, and he thought he found some cyans(which he didn't because we live in Ky), he took some home, dried them out, and ate one the size of about the size of a pen cap. He told me to come over and have a look see, I told him he's retarded and could die. If he ate that would he have the possibility of dying? He said the only symptom he had was a mild stomach ache for a couple hours, Will he be fine or should we get him submitted?

When did he eat those "Galerina"?

If you have any speculation that he poisoned himself its probably a good idea to take him and the dry mushrooms to a doctor...

He got lucky and does not need to see a doctor.
Its possible that the mushroom was not a Galerina, or maybe it was a Galerina and just didn't have a lot of poison.
If he was going to die from this he would be pretty miserable right now.
Tell him not to eat any more mushrooms until they have been properly identified.

i have not done much research on mushroom poisonings. I thought i remember seeing it could take 4-6 days for symptoms to appear?
Its not even worth going to the doctor?

Only in the case of orellanine poisoning, which has never happened in North America. Death caps and Galerina take 6 - 12 hours to kick in.

Just in case, I recommend that your friend go get another sample of the species from the same spot, and bring it into a mycologist (or even post pics/sporeprint color/info here!) to get it ID'ed, just to be sure.
The more you know, the better off you are.
And have your friend read up about amatoxin poisoning. Hopefully it will scare the ever-loving shit out of him and he will think twice about eating random mushrooms again.
