need help ID with mini-weilii
    #11253023 - 10/15/09 03:00 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

my friend found all these growing everywhere in his yard, and i mean EVERYWHERE for a solid 50 foot radius.

he is convinced they are weilii but i know they arnt and he is planning on picking them and eating them.

they are all very short, none of the caps are bigger than the size of a quarter(maybe a little bigger)

they do have some very interesting qualities though, most of them do have a nipple on the cap. also none of them are bruising blue.
and the smell is nothing like weilii, its more of like something you would put on a pizza. the stems on some are hollow, others are not.

they look like dog shit shrooms to me.

Probably Inocybe.

Toxic.

Check the spore print color and don't let your friend eat them.

True. Inocybe aeruginascens and a few others.

what strikes these interesting to me is that they trully do look like little mini-weilli's... down to the texture and the gills just not the smell.

i cant find them in my book and i cant find them on the inocybe species list online.

i guess ill have to wait for the spore print.

Well, they aren't weilii. Just because they look like them doesn't mean a thing. Galerina marginata look a lot like Psilocybe cyanescens and they will terminate your liver.

Yes but probably less than one in ten thousand.  Inactive Inocybes are 99% likely to be poisonous.  Inactive Inocybe species are very common, active Inocybe species are very rare.

They look like mini Cortinarius too.

the one on the far right in the second pic is the only one that i would think could be a small weilii.

but event then it looks a little different.

It is a pin of the same species as the others.
