Orange mushrooms....need Id
    #11252721 - 10/15/09 02:15 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I found these growing in a field this morning, and I'm not sure if they are safe to eat, or if they contain psilocybin. Can an experienced mushroom hunter please ID these shrooms for me?

thanks

Its not Agrocybe but I don't know what it is.  Appears to be white spored.  Could be in Gymnopus.

they were orange when I picked them, and turned brownish when they started to dry out.

does anyone know if they are dangerous or not?

They are likely to be dangerous.  Don't eat them.  Make some spore prints and take some pictures that are not blurry.

I don't think those are Gyms because if you had Gymnopilus there'd be orange spores everywhere.

I've got some Phalaris Brachystachys and Desmanthus Illinoensis seeds to trade for a spore print or syringe.

No one said they were Gymnopilus, I said they are Gymnopus which is completely different.

But Gymnopus isn't usually orange so I am probably wrong with that guess.  Maybe Mycena.
