My first mushrooms.

I'd just like to share what I've done so far. I have some in vitro pinning at 99.9% colonization.
The pics were taken on a Nintendo DSi, so they aren't the best quality.

There is a small part like... almost barely visible that isn't colonized yet.
You think I should birth it anyway? I've been thinking hard on it.
I have two jars like this. The other one doesn't have in vitro pins.

I'd say birth it and if there is a piece left uncolonized then take a sterilized knife and cut out of piece.
The cake looks like its been done for more then a couple days. Its probably just stalled

Yeah, I think it's stalled too. I even tried warming it up slightly above room temp for a couple days to finish off that last lil almost unnoticeable spot.
I'm gonna birth them tonight then
I hope those pins don't fall off during the birthing, but if they do I guess I'll have a little snack.
EDIT: I'll keep this thread updated as my growlog.
What do you guys suggest to keep my FC at the proper temperature during the fruiting process? I'm thinking about putting a heating blanket underneath my FC.
My grow room has no heat and soon it's gonna start getting chilly.

Ya my last cake had a little piece that stalled and i just had to cut it off. in regards to keeping that pin on =/... your going to want to dunk your cake for around 24hours and you wont wanna leave your mushroom on for that.

My poor sexy little pin
It'll probably fall off as soon as it slides out of the jar.

i wouldnt suggest putting a heating pad under your FC you want to heat the room your FC is in, not the FC its self
BTW what kind of FC are you using?

Well yeah, but unfortunately that's not possible. Hmm... actually I might be able to warm the room up with a standalone electric heater.
My FC is a non-shotgun plastic storage bin. I'm planning on using about 3inches of damp perlite.
I have all the materials I just haven't put it all in action yet. I will tonight though.

So its juts a bin with perlite then i would def not heat it then, with no holes in the bin and just damp perlite while being heated is contam city. Like I say and other never heat the FC its self. Also you should use more like 4-5 inches of perlite make it a SG and heat the room then you will be perfect

These crappy DSi pics do the cakes no justice. There are TONS of mushrooms on these cakes man, and they are fat and beautiful.
They are growing and pinning more each day. One of my cakes has an incredible amount of mushrooms.
I imagine in a couple weeks I'm gonna have my first flush, and some fucking fantastic mushrooms.

You might be pleasantly surprised at how fast they go one they're pinning in the FC, I wouldn't be surprised if you aren't on your second flush in two weeks time. Definately sort yourself out a shotgun terrarium though. Lookin' good!
