My pack of dogs is the best cacti thief alert system ever.
Since I run a small cacti nursery I have to have a pack of loyal hounds, im about to install one of those systems that alerts you if someone crosses a certain barrier set up around my residence.

Hey there's police for everything
Shit, when I was 8 years old and my mom took my ice cream away, a cop blared its siren right next to us, and I was "Hey mom, the ice cream police are here for you, now give it back and I wont press charges"
Ive see a brigade of ppl that go to trance parties claiming to be the party police, but they're alll just fucking with ppl and are tripping themselves as well, its just a mindfuck for other ppl they get off on

exactly my thought. Can anybody see your collection or is it covered by a fence? If its the later then somebody obviously knew it was there. i'd look at my friends as suspect personally.
seriously though who steals cacti? im already afraid enough of bad trips, let alone if I stole the stuff I was tripping on. karma will wreck them good.

I am also inclined to assume it was someone close to you. I'll go one further and say it was probably somebody you talked about them with.
That's usually how these things go, and I have seen many stolen cacti reports at another forum I frequent... so many that sometimes I wonder if people might not be making up stories to entice some of the more friendly/generous members to offer gifts and replacements.
I know that's not what is going on here, not trying to imply that...

In the Los Angeles area, there was a newscast about people taking Sago Palms, or anything that wasn't nailed down.
I knew someone, who had a wagon wheel taken from behind tall shrubs.
Theft rings are said to travel, from several counties away, and they sell stuff at distant flea markets, where it won't be recognized.

You must not have very good friends. Not be sound naive, but I can almost without a doubt say that it is not any of my friends. If I can't trust them with my property then I don't consider them friends.
I have only talked to one aquantence about what they are, that I can remember. I used to grow a fair amount of weed, so I was extremely careful about who I let know where my house is.
I doubt I will ever know for sure, though.
I can only hope they dry heave for hours, and rethink their lives.

Chances are your right F.H. Probably one of his "friends".

right so answer my other question. Are they visible to the public, or would someone have to hop a fence to see them? If they aren't visible to the public its almost certainly one of your "friends".

totally. if someone knew what you had that was out of sight, your best bet is that its someone you know.

First of all, if it was one of my friends, they would have known to take my more valuable, more potent cacti. Not a mix of small below average potency pedros.
I'm still not sold on your blame friends first mentality.

Man thieves be pissing me off too lately. Goddamn roommate (random draw) keeps stealing my granola bars and has denied it every time I've confronted him about it. Kashi bars don't just disappear, nor do their wrappers end up in our trash can while I'm gone (at first I thought I might be eating them in my sleep or something because I'm prone to ridiculous antics). BENEATH MY BED AIN'T YOUR PERSONAL VENDING MACHINE SON!
I ought to grind some datura and MG seeds into a box of granola. That'd teach his ass. Hope my granola is worth your ego death in hell!
And... this is related because it involves thieves and Kashi has plants in it. I think. Just thought I'd drop some personal experience on this topic while its on the front page.

yeah but your still not answering my question? are they out in the open or not? im not trying insinuate anything, just trying to be rationale. If they aren't out in the open, the odds of some random person randomly hoping your fence to steal random cactus are very slim. Which makes your friends suspect.
