After First Flush, Weird Fluffy Looking Mycelium

The fluffy stuff looks like rhizomorphic growth but smells like very bad mushrooms, almost like a rotting smell. Could this just be from where I picked the mushrooms last time? I didn't re-case it since I had no peat moss left and there was still a bit on top.

Seems okay, try to remove the whole mushroom next time so that you do not have any mushroom tissue left behind to rot, a sure recipe for flies and bacteria.

Thanks I was hoping that was all it was. But sometimes when I try to remove the whole mushroom I get a bit of substrate with it, especially around the edges. This would be worse or just as bad wouldn't it?

I've used a knife before but it still left a chunk of mushroom in the side of the substrate coz I couldn't dig into the substrate. It's okay though as long as it isn't mold I'm happy. Although this is the only tub to do this.

I twist gently and pull gently.  I sometimes get a bit if substrate but no worries.  Unless a big chunk of substrate comes out.  Then you might see me frantically trying to patch the thing back up like a big golf divot!

But don't worry about a bit of substrate.  It's the chunks you don't need to be pulling out.
