What's some good music to listen to while trippin? Is metal an appropiate music genre while trippin? Im a huge metalhead and had never listen to metal while trippin so im interested if it affects the trip.

Chances are if you like it while sober you'll enjoy it while tripping.

there was a thread about this just lastweek called "Going to be tripping on Mushies later today, music suggestions please" so type that in the search and just read all of it cos there were lots of good bands mentioned

haha Rush. Good Idea. I think I answered my own question lookin through my music. Some Radiohead would be cool and this album called " blood inside" from a band called Ulver. Or some Portishead and some "A Tribe Called Quest" would be relaxing if anything. I like Rush too.

Metal can be awesome while tripping, but be careful which band you're listening too. Tripping makes you very suggestible, so if you feel the music is making you nervous/angry/sad switch to something nicer. For tripping, I'd suggest you stay away from head-banging stuff.


Some metal albums I'd recommend while tripping:

Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon (this one might be a little too much for some people, but I like it)
Dio - Holy Diver
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Kyuss - Blues For a Red Sun
Nightwish - Once

first time my brother and i took mushrooms we were climbing a mountain in the eastern sierras off the trail

he thought ahead and brought a cd player and put the headphones around his neck and started playing mt. nibelheim from the final fantasy 7 soundtrack

highhhly recommended

music can greatly accentuate a trip. watching a movie with the sound off and some tunes flowing can be a very interesting experience producing some hefty thought patterns.
spirited away + seu jorge's covers of david bowie songs is a deft combo.


but i find while tripping that most of the fun comes from listening to the music of the world find its pattern, getting lost in those intricacies.

My favorite is late sixties psychedelic music.  beatles after they starting toking, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers (I know they're not 60's :wink:) The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, Love, Clutch, Lionize, Tool, Incubus (psychopscilocybin is awesome), Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc.

Really though, the main thing is listen to what you like, because you'll get more out of music you love, even if it isn't all that trippy.

Exactly - I for one think that listening to Jimi chopping a mountain down through sound is much more "trippy" then listening to some electronic "trip" music - it's all preference.

haha Boards of Canada was very trippy the one time I listen to them while tripping. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, and Jimmy Hendrix are a given. Was lookin for something different but equally as good/trippy.
