Things to do near Portland/Seattle.
    #11245775 - 10/14/09 12:41 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Well it looks like my PNW gathering has fallen through, but that won't prevent me from going up there and doing some hiking and photography.  I'm just curious on where I should go to get good photographs and find interesting things to do.  I'll be up there about a week or two.

If anyone wants to chill, I'll be hanging out with some shroomerites as it is, maybe we can get a little hangout together in Portland and one in Seattle, just to chill, maybe plan out a spring gathering after it warms up?

Hope you guys are having a good time, can't wait to chill and see the fall colors.  That reminds me, how are the colors?  I'm going to be passing by Burney Falls and Silver Falls too (I think that's waht it's called).  Might do Multnomah again if it's not too crowded.  I love taking photos of waterfalls.  I can do Image Stacking at Multnomah to remove all the people from the scenes.

Peace.

I was up there a few weeks ago. Absolutely gorgeous, and an awesome live music scene. Hempstalk was going on at the time, but that was only a weekend event, so no luck of that for you.

It's still going to Happen, it's just not going to have the Turnout I was expecting.  And it'll probably be held the 23rd.  I mean I could head out tomorrow evening, but if I wait a few more days, it'll benefit me greatly.

fall colors are mostly past peak, but still decent in places.  spring/summer is best for waterfalls, during the snowmelt.  if you're into hiking and photography, you might dig a trip over to the east side of the cascades to check out the larch/tamarack trees, assuming weather cooperates and you're up for a couple hour drive east from seattle.  if it's sunny and you hit them at the right time of year it makes for some awesome scenery...

most of these are from last weekend, most trees weren't quite at full color yet.  it was cloudy, but still nice...

I got an empty house we can hang out at in Portland.  I'm busy Saturday morning, but my schedule is pretty much empty the rest of the day.  If the weather's nice, we can go hiking at Powell-Butte nature park:

Colors came a lot sooner this year than the previous years.  Way sooner.  I kept coming way too early (and I kept leaving on the 20th) the previous years and would be early.  Silversoul, that'd be awesome to chill up there.

The japanese gardens in portland are fucking amazing! Theres a small fee to enter, but that place was definitely awesome for photos.

You should definitely check out the local markets and check out the music expo and science center are all pretty cool. You could also check out Fred Hutchinson Cancer center if your into that kind of stuff. I would also check out the University of Washington.

you could try steel bridge in the olympic national forest. The drive down the 106 is awesome on a clear day.  it's on the Hood canal. The town of belfair is right at it's tip.

I hear they have some awesome bonsai gardens in Seattle and Portland.  I've seen the Japanese garden in Portland, and it was astounding, very spectacular.
