ID Request - Northwest Arkansas
    #11247127 - 10/14/09 06:11 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Hello, I am new to the forum, and also new to mushroom hunting. I would like to thank everyone in advance for any help that they may be able to provide me with this ID. Went out searching for mushrooms this afternoon, as we have had several heavy days of rain. These are what I have found. I tried to include as much information as I could. I could not take pictures in the field, as I did not have my camera with me, but any other questions you may have about the find I would be happy to answer. Again, thanks in advance for your help!

Species 1:

Habitat:

Found in a cow pasture, growing from cow dung, amongst 6" tall grass.

Gills:

Gills fairly light in color. Not white, but not brown, either.

Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem:

Stem approximate length of ~3", diameter ~1/2". Solid, fairly thick.

Cap:

Diameter of about 1-1/2". Nipple top.

Spore print color:

I apologize, but do not have a spore print yet.

Bruising:

Blue bruising, almost immediately.

Species 2:

Habitat:

Found in a cow pasture, growing from cow dung, amongst 6" tall grass.

Gills:

Gills are very dark, almost black. These seem to be more mature mushrooms.

Stem:

Stem approximate length of ~3", diameter ~1/2". Solid, fairly thick.

Cap:

Cap much larger than species 1. Teaspoon laid near for reference to size.

Spore print color:

I apologize, but do not have a spore print yet.

Bruising:

Blue bruising, almost immediately.

Species 3:

Habitat:

Found in a cow pasture, growing from cow dung, amongst 6" tall grass.

Gills:

Gills very dark, almost black.

Stem:

Stem approximate length of ~2-3", diameter ~1/4". Solid.

Cap:

Diameter of about 1-1/2". Nipple top.

Spore print color:

I apologize, but do not have a spore print yet.

Bruising:

Blue bruising, almost immediately.

Thanks, I was thinking so too... I have done quite a bit of research thanks to this forum. I will most definitely wait, and I appreciate your quick response. I have never taken magic mushrooms before, so I am a complete noob. Thanks again!

Thanks again for your posts. I was wondering about the second lot of images, they are MUCH larger than 1 and 3. I guess I should go look for more, eh?

LOL, that would be nice, wouldn't it? There are a few other kinds that I need to take some pictures of and post, some that are white, and some that are almost black. I will do that soon.

There are also a crap load of these two different ones:

These pictures were taken about a month ago, but there are a bunch after this most recent rain. Same field.

Make sure you dry those if you don't eat them soon, or they will rot.

Yep .. Get a fan on them .. I remove the stem from the cap and I split the stem just in case it has a few hitchhikers inside. AKA Fruit Fly Maggots. If you find them isolate that mushroom from the others .. I have watched them vacate one cap and head off a few inches to another!

Again them are some good looking thick Mushrooms and I know my Cubes

Since you haven't ever tried psychedelic mushrooms before you should probably try some before you go picking a bunch of them, what if you don't like the effects?

Pick them all, dry them.  Try them.  If you don't like them, give them to your friends.
