Monotub Humidity
    #11246311 - 10/14/09 04:12 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Since the poo substrate will be at field capacity when I mix it with the spawn grains, there should be enough water in there to allow colonization. But after that, how do you keep the humidity in a monotub high enough to fruit?

I was thinking I would put a coffee can sized plastic tub in there and put the mushie mix around it, then fill it with wet perlite and a bubbler when time to fruit. Or will this end up not being necessary>?

Also, I assume I need to pastuerize this poo I bought just like it's poo I found.

If the mono tub is made correctly and the substrate was brought to proper field capacity there is no need to worry about proper moisture.. They will do it all by themselves monotubs are set and forget you don't need to fan or mist, unless you want too..

i think its so cool you dont have to fan or mist if you built the tub right.....you can just look at it all the time and not have to fiddle with it..!

Sweet Jesus this is good news. So, what then, let them colonize in the dark and never open it so you don't lose humidity? Just sneak a peek once a week? Makin sure the myc isn't meek?

Well what I do is put duct tape over my holes till it is 100% colonized after which I then take the tape off and put polyfill in the holes and introduce it to 12/12 lighting.

or you can go ahead and put in the poly and just put the whole thing in a trash bag to keep out to much air till colonized thats what i do

yeah I use to do that but I was running into problems with it not colonizing all the way so now I do the duct tape thing..  But yes either way works.

Na it's just the same as stuffing it at the first time..  All I do is take off one piece of tape then stuff that hole..  I do it one hole at a time that way you don't loose a large amount of Rh
