Ok So i currently have a bag of Rye grain and a few BRF cakes incubating in various cupboards and places. And also have an expansion vile that should give me 10ml of B+ for further grows.
This is the list of things i plan on getting or already have for my current grow and for future grows.
Brown Rice Flour - Organic Vermiculite - medium Perlite - medium Clear Plastic box for shotgun and 1 for glove box ISOPROPYL Rubbing Alcohol - for cleaning and needles Caning Jars Desiccants / Silica for drying mushrooms - need small box - may use Fan to dry out then add to desiccant Thermometer
Thats pretty much it and will be following a tutorial i found on here (well link) to making BRF cakes without the use of PC or Microwave. Steam them over the cooker.
Let me know if im on the right lines.

You also want disposable gloves, dust masks, and bleach (for cleaning your GB--mix 10% to warm water).
You can steam sterilize for 90 minutes and do well with BRF jars. For grain (popcorn, rye, WBS, etc.), you can use fractional sterilization--or buy a PC, an investment that you will never regret.

Don't get dust masks, get surgical masks.
Don't do "fractional sterilization." Get a PC or stick with cakes if you don't have, don't want, or can't afford a PC.
Use 70% iso alcohol to clean your glovebox, etc.

The entire first time procedure for making cakes can be found here: http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek
There's a lot of contradictory information out there, but these videos provide an easy and proven method for the beginner. Watch and follow along with all four videos and you'll have success.

Thats the tech i watched and plan to follow, thats where i got the glove box idea from. Everything seems pretty simple when they show you so I will give it a go.

Will be getting the Iso that rubbing alcohol and is 70%.
So would i just use this instead of bleach? I see that many flame sterilize their needles can i burn iso alcohol to create same effect save buying a special burner and additional fuel as may not use all this stuff much!!

Oh yes gloves i have, will look into masks but thought that that was the whole idea of the glovebox!? Just an added precaution.
I will be sticking to BRF cakes as i know rye and grains are very hard to sterilize without a PC.
Thanks for the feedback so looks as if im on right lines and few questions above in this post and i should be set to go.

If you stick with it, success is practically guaranteed. I mean, if a idiot like me can do it...

I have to reccomend a PC. It is invaluable for grains, and it helps tons with PF cakes as well.

Well i made a few quick purchases of a hygrometer/therm digital all in one for the fruiting chamber.
A bottle of Iso alcohol to disinfectant everything.
Have been looking at basic pressure cookers in the UK and they are around $35, this is basic one that look just like a pot with special lid but no thermometer or anything like that. Would this be ok? I suppose with a PC i am sort of guaranteed success as i will be starting with a germ free growing medium.!
Asked a Q above: Can i use Iso Alcohol to sterilize needle then burn a capfull to flame the needle??

Ok i thought there was an issue with residue of the butane gas.
I will have alcohol so will use that as well as lighter then just to be on the safe side.

Yea the residue just makes the needle black does not affect the growth or contam rate. all you need is a cotton wick and some Iso I would use 99% for a lamp just get a glass bottle or something fill it with the iso stick the wick in it and bam alcohol lamp

My preferred methods of flame sterilizing, favorite to least favorite:
Propane torch > Gets the needle red hot almost instantly; no residue
Alcohol lamp > Slow, with some residue
Butane lighter > Slow, awkward, much residue

well ill probably just try and make an alcohol lamp or something, at least i will have the Iso Alcohol.
Have been looking at pressure cookers and I will not be able to get one as finding one with a pressure gauge like ones many use on here is impossible to find one in the UK for cheap. All i have found is what looks like a saucepan with a secure lid!?

I have actually just found the rocker help area. So May invest as I can get one pretty cheaply and will help in keeping everything clean.
So i have read the pressure cooker thread and where would I find the times for sterilizing jars?
