Stalled Casing
    #11244365 - 10/14/09 08:45 AM (8 years, 10 months ago)

I've just read a reply to a post from Hyphae, it says that any early developing fruits should be picked as these put demand on the substrate nutes, once picked the rest of the first flush should follow.

Well this was my first casing & I had what I thought was a good pinset on the way, loads of Knotting. A few fruits developed early on & the casing seemed to stall. Why was this? If I had picked them & waited would the first flush have produced more fruits?

I had the same problem with my BRF cakes, the first flush produced a shedload of knotts + real small pins but didn't go onto fruit that well. I know it's all down to inexperience on my part & I know that some nail it on their first grow, just ain't happening that way for me. No contams yet tho so I suppose that something. Any help really appreciated.

How long have they been sitting? My experience with trays shows me when I have a lot of pins then nothing fruiting the 2nd "flush" is a redonkulous amount of fruits.
Also, what usually caused my pins to never grow was low rH.... Check those things out and make sure you dont have a huge fluctuation of rH and temp.
I never ever had success with putting my trays in my shotgun... Just seemed to never keep the rH up doing that. I've since moved to a greenhouse and all seems well now.
I'm not a fan of trays in SG

The casings now on it 3rd flush, had them sitting like that for about 6 days & nothing seemed to be happening. I figured if I left it like that any longer it would start to rot so I did a light scrape of the top casing, I realise now that was probably a bad idea. The temp varys between 70 & 76 & RH between 86 & 92. Misted the hell out of it & someone said to use drinking straws to bring up the moisture content in the substrate. Seems to be frowned upon now but doesn't seem to have done any harm.

2nd flush.

A few mistakes made on my part,:mad2:
