    #11241335 - 10/13/09 06:25 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat:
Pine straw next to grass in apartment complex.

Gills:
Brown Gills.

Stem:
Skinny stem seems to be hallow.

Cap:
Goldish Brown caps With slight nipple.

Spore print color:
Dark. I'd say brownish black like the color of the mushroom.

Bruising:
Didn't see much bruising. Never Identified mushrooms before.

Other information:
Smells like a mushroom you would buy at store to me. They grew in a cluster of around 30.

Can you take another picture of the mushrooms in pic #3, using macro mode on your camera. I would like to see close ups of the gills, cap and stipe if possible.

I can't make the picture out very good, but it looks like you have two different types of mushrooms there. Have you taken spore prints on these?

Nah don't eat those.

They are probably not poisonous but definitely not active.

Do you not have a macro mode on your camera? Its usually the flower symbol. These are to blurry for me to see any details. If these are the weilii look alike, I would really like to see them close up.

Cut the caps off at the stipe(stem). Place the caps down on aluminum foil or white paper. Make sure not to mix up the stipes and caps. Keep them separated per mushroom.

Also, pinch the stipe at the base. I am interested in what will happen.

Can you tell me what the stipes look like, are they smooth, rough? Is there any distinct smell to these?

Try to get some real pics!

Thats the best I can get out of my camera. I'm pretty dissapointed these arnt good shrooms to eat hard as hell for me to find any in ga and cant grow any here the spores are illegal to buy in ga for some reason. When i pnched the bottom of the stem it split like a straw.

The stems is a lighter color than the cap. It's smooth, long, skinny, and its hallow when I pinch it it cracks with several splits goings up the stipe like its hallow.

Splitting the stipe is normal on some mushrooms. Without quality pics, I can't tell what these look like. There appears to be dirt on the stipes or its rough in texture. I would still cut the caps off and take spore prints. Give it about an hour or so and recheck where you pinched the stipes and cut the caps off. See if there is any bruising and if so what color.

Your first set of pics throw mw off, the third pic has a few that look close to weilii, but the other pics do not. Do you have a higher resolution on your camera phone? Any friends have a camera you can use...lol.

That is very similar to weilii. Not saying it is, but that is what weilii will do.

If there is no distinct smell, that would also eliminate wielii. Take a look at my thread about weilii and look at the pictures. Let me know how close it is.

Ya I will definantly get a camera soon and post better pics. I just dont want to throm these away yet cause they really look like a lot of the ones ive purchased before. They have the dark goldish caps we just picked them and there under a fan seem to be getting lighter in color a brighter gold color. We just picked them like 4 hours ago.

The spore print and bruising are just a few items that will help identify these. Are the caps smooth or look velvet like?

I believe Alan is right with Lacrymaria velutina, my understanding is that these grow in close proximity to weilii. I dont see them with the woodland weilii though.
