Hooking up a TV to your video card? not working!

so i bought a G-force 6200 video card because it has video out (S-video).
i want to use my TV as a monitor, it only has RCA jacks...
so i also buy a cord that goes from S-video to RCA. i plug it all in and it doesnt fricking work????
i did the "TV Wizard, which is lame as fuck, and it made zero difference....tried different channels, tv/video mode nothing. all i get is an array of coloured lines liek a mushroom trip on speed... how can i do this? i bought all this stuff and thus far it is wasted space
EDIT: I got the display to work...the svidoe splits into the 3 RCA (yellow video, red and white audio).....for some reason the yellow when put into the tv video input does the colour lien thing. when i put the white into the video in on the tv it displays ok but only in B&W. so i put the yellow into the second TV input on the tv and get a little colour...not much....any ideas?
i can get pics if need be
thanks fr any input

I think you would have better luck if you get this moved to the Science and Technology Forum.

try a different set of cables maybe the ones you got are bad? or maybe your svideo to rca converter is bad? or maybe your tv's rca inputs are bad?
also, look real close at the back of your tv, sometimes the color coding is goofy or labeled wrong, rare but seems like ive seen or heard of that before. but yah basically just keep trying different combinations of your cables till it works, also try different numbers of cables.
im not too up to date on cables and everything, but it seems like on older tv's 1 cable was for video 1 for left channel audio and 1 for right channel...so you should only need one cable?
what im thinking here, is that svideo is ment for those hi-def tv's that have 5 inputs, so all 3 of those cables are video, but your tv only has 1 video in

ya exactly. i have tried all combinations. when i just use the single video to video, its all lines and looks like an epileptic persons nightmare. my TV has 2 sets of RCA, one in front and one in back......the weird thing is that the whitecable coming from teh s-video cord (normally for audio i thought) is the one that works to give me picture....but B&W, not colour. so i plug that one into the video input on the tv. in the second video input on the tv i plug in the line that is suppose to be the video from the svideo cord, and that gives me a little tiny bit of colour "fuzzies". the other wire in any combination does nothing for video.
any idea?
