Thank you thank you thank you for the clarity once and for all between monotubs and SGFC’s. I’ve been wanting to use SGFC but not use brf cakes. From what I read here, I could potentially make trays of substrate to go in the SGFC.

In my mushroom learning curve, I have come to find out there are many microclimates in my home. Today I discovered that by putting my SGFC tub directly on the forced air vent in my house, the heat and humidity rise to perfect for fruiting within minutes. I’m trying to find the best place in my house by setting up my chamber without any specimen in it yet so that I can find the ideal location in my house.

just FYI - sgfcs when full have a higher humidity and convection currents will always move air up thru the moist perlite up into the airspace in the sgfc and out the holes.  you dont want a fan or vent blowing at it or it will dry out wayy faster than it should and you will be having to re moisten the perlite alot.

Thanks. I am very interested in this hobby and I very much want to put the effort forward to make sure that it’s successful. My house is extremely dry at times and difficult to heat evenly. I am trying to find the most optimal location that still allows me ample opportunities to nurture and fret over my pinning children LOL
