STAL
What is this poll asking? Is it asking us if we are religious, or if we support religion, or if we think it's a good thing?
I would describe myself as religious insofar as I am a spiritual person operating within a particular religious narrative. If you're asking whether I think I religion is always a good thing, the answer is clearly "no." There is obviously a lot of very harmful religious violence committed by fanatics. But I do think religion does have a positive role to play in the world. Its mythic narrative can provide the structure that many people need in their lives. It can help people transcend themselves and integrate themselves into a larger and more expansive worldview. Unfortunately, religion can often get stuck at a certain developmental level, and make it more difficult to find further transcendence. This is why it's important for religion to evolve, and have something to offer people at every level of awareness.

i say stal because religion has done some good things, but some have just taken it too far. though i am not a religious person myself, i believe if there was no religion, our world would be in chaos. unfortunately, the majority of mankind is just too stupid to think for themselves. religion was created as an explanation to the unexplained when there was no technology, but now days, its used more as a scare tactic. it pretty much says, if you don't live your life this way, you will burn in hell for eternity. anybody in their right mind would not want to burn in hell for eternity, so they live their lives the way they are "supposed to".
i think if there was no religion, people may do things that hurt others, because they may not feel remorse. but then again, sometimes religion drives people to do crazy things if they are delusional. take for example serial murderers that say they do things because god says they are a bad person, or the devil made me do it. or hell, look at al-qaeda. i could go on and on and into more depth, but i feel that if i make my post too long, it will just be skipped over.
there really is no certain answer, only opinions that will always be debatable. and with that said i leave you with a quote
"The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one." -George Bernard Shaw

I find it ironic that many atheists can be just as hypocritical as the biblethumper next door. Who cares what God, or if any, anyone believes in? Why does it matter to you? Is their belief really ANY more true than yours? How much do we really know? Flying Spaghetti Monster? Xenu?

I'm just against organized spirituality in general so I put nay. But then again all this shit is relative. Christianity wouldn't even be so bad if it hadn't become totally attached to the conservative right in america.

Religion is needless. I wont say whether it is good or not, but you really do not need it.
It only takes common sense to know the basics of morality. You don't need some guy who said he talked to god to tell you how to live your life.
Take everything cautiously and don't hide your curiosity.. curiosity is good, just don't let it kill you.
