sporing a feild 101 - questions and thoughts
    #11232556 - 10/12/09 11:26 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

So this is the situation. I live on some land with cattle, and mushrooms grow, but none of them are active. I recently found some cubes growing on my grandpas land though, and have gotten some really great prints. I want to spore the feilds where I am at so that they will grow here. I am thinking about mixing all the spores in a sprayer with some water, and just walking around the feilds spraying patties and other random spots. My hopes are that the spores will do their thing and eventually the actives will come up. I was just curious if anyone has ever done this or has experience in sporing a feild. About how long do you think it would take the spores to produce fruits? I know the climate and all will determine that. But I was just curious if by next year they would be making fruit or if it would take longer? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

you would have better success feeding spore directly to your cattle

both would work..

spore up the feed

spore up the land

if you stick a few prints in a few gallins of water and shake.. thats plenty to spore the feed up..

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

Why not make an lc and use that to spore your field?

The best way to inoculate your field would be to take a bunch of freshly picked fruits and put them in a blender, then walk around spraying your field with your blended mushrooms in damp weather, this could have you some mass fruiting in a very short time.

im going to have to dissagree. ive never inoculated a field, but it just doesnt seem like itd work introducing myc to a field.

its nature. so introduce the "seed" and let it do the rest.

straight LC to shit patties, or grass doesnt do anything...

the cow eats the myc on the grass...dead.
the cow eats spores on the grass...the grass/feed gets "pastuerized" in the belly and comes out in a chunk of doody containing germinating spores that are ready to colonize the poop

spores spores and more spores to even hope of getting a field to fruit regularly

imo:shrug:

yeah any time ive tried LC from spores/etc that ive prepared indoors, in controlled environments, eats shit as soon as its "spawned" to something outdoors.

the LC myc is not suited for nature. its suited for grains, and sterilized spawn/sub

the fresh chopped fungus might yield an "LC" capable of colonizing contam ridden poo, or taking a beating from the sun. or ANY amount of dry conditions

Yes, the reason that I suggested it is that I read it as a tek somewhere years ago, and I do believe that if you walk around a field of horse or cow shit on a warm wet day, spraying fresh myc slurry everywhere, you would be in for a huge harvest if mother nature provided the right conditions for a couple weeks.

I am not suggesting that you spray it up in the air so it falls gently all around.  I am saying spray the ground, specifically piles of shit.

The first few times you see fruits in your field you may want to pick them, put them in a blender with some water and spray your field down again.

I believe this would get your field colonized much quicker than using spores, but I have never done it before so what do I know?

just me says this too

thatd be PRIME to get that myc to colonize and fruit, and like you said, continue the fresh slurry for a little while until the field seems like its fruiting nicely, and then i assume you could just let the spores from the flushing field take over

how do you know that worked for you ringo?

you took spores from the field youre already finding naturally growing mushrooms, and dusting patties with them...

you dont think that patty was already on its way to fruiting?

Well the field was pretty large and only had real fruits in a corner under some trees. And the patty that I dusted exploded with shrooms.
