Metroid Prime - GAMECUBE
    #11162055 - 10/01/09 03:58 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Now here is a great game to smoke to. I just bought another gamecube on ebay with Metriod Prime. I just love that game. I bought one 3 times before as one I left when I moved to Florida and another when I worked onboard a ship. I just can't get enough of Metroid and I can't afford a wii for the new one (I sold my wii two years ago when I was broke) SO this is my only option. Only cost me 15 pounds for the Gmaecube and the game.

The GC has soooo many good games that no one knows about. Metroid Prime is such a good game. I love scanning.....EVERYTHING and reading about it. It adds a whole new level of immersion to that game. Check out Eternal Darkness to the GC too. It's a horror game that FUCKS with your head. The more monsters you see, the more insane you get. The more insane you are, the more fucked up things happen in your game.

Yeah,it's a Awesome game, but the Gamecube was the worst system next to the N64 that Nintendo came out with.Hell, those two systems are way worse that the Dreamcast, which is my personal favorite:grin:

Eternal Darkness sounds great. I'll have to look on ebay for it. Plenty of cheap games there. I got my Gamebube and Metroid for 21 pounds, lost the bid on Echoes though.

I finished Prime, after a hell of a lot of work but only got 70% done.
Echoes I got to a boss near the end, maybe the final boss. there was some poisonous gas around it? Anyone remember that?

Supra, I think you might be let down by Goldeneye if you get it out. I still have mine and I dusted it off about 6 months ago and put it on fr a game. I thought because of all the FPS I have played (Goldeneye was the first real FPS if you ask me, not that DOOM crap) but sonce I have been enjoying great graphics and smooth play on online multiplayers like BF2 I naturally forgot how BAAAAD the graphics are on Goldeneye. I mean baaaad! flat faces and horrible texture. and I'm not even as good as I used to be. It's harder to aim than it was. Need a mouse for that.

Other than Mario64,Goldeneye,and Mariokart64,the N64 was one of the worst systems ever. Those blocky graphics don't cut it now and I never liked them back then.I did have one though, and would still play Mariokart64.Oh,and all Dreamcast's are noisy. That was one of Sega's many flaws with the machine.

OMG, Eternal Darkness is the best.  The insanity effects start out pretty standard but eventually just get mean.

Spoiler Alert!

The worst/best insanity effect was during intense play a screen pops up asking  "are sure you want to delete your save game files".  I assumed I just hit a wrong button and I promptly entered "no".  The next screen says "deleting all files" with a progress bar showing them bleeding away.  I actually jumped to my feet and screamed "I SAID NO!!!!!".  Fuckers...... hehe, got me good.

Indeed, Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are among the most highly, and delightfully atmospheric experiences you will find in gaming.

To me, atmosphere is EVERYTHING. Shadow of the Colossus was a fucking wet dream for me.  Atmosphere, atmosphere, AT-MOS-PHEEERRRREEE!

Nothing tops it.

Yea thats a wild game.  Some of the effects I dont think would work as well now.  For instance the one where you are engaged in a large battle and all of a sudden the screen becomes pure static as if your cables got unplugged.  You figure you are fucked but the screen comes back in and you haven't died.  Modern tv's, at least the ones I use, if a cable gets unplugged the screen just turns black and says like 'Video 1' in the upper left. However when I first played that game the static shit was what happened if a cable got unplugged.  Ive forgotten a lot of the insanity effects, maybe ill play that game again sometime

metroid is one of my most favorite game of all time.
when you smoke some weed and play this game its so much more dramatic, like for instance some alien would pop at me without warning from behind and i would almost get a fucking heart attack.

same with halo 2 and the flood levels.
fucking epic games.

The most atmospheric game I ever played was Aliens vs Predators.  Its real old, in fact I think it was this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_versus_Predator_(video_game)

I might be confusing it with the second one, however I think the first one was the good one.

Anyways that game was far ahead of its time in terms of creating a real moody and scary atmosphere.  The lighting effects in that game were honestly never eclipsed in my opinion until the game Fear came out.  Just a fucking awesome game, though I havent played it in many years.

Edit:  Ah shit, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_vs._Predator_(video_game)

apparently the same developer is going to make a new one.  Hot damn that might be awesome

Hell yea man maybe Ill get that also.  I only really dug the human campaign.  The lighting was great (or so I remember), probably doesnt look that impressive now though.  But I liked the whole atmosphere where youd be walking around some dark corridor and the beeping on your alien locator would get louder and louder.  Thats also around the first times I started getting high when playing video games, so that might have colored my experience a bit ha

The final boss was totally nails. I dont think i've ever taken so long to nail the final boss in any game.

The entire metroid series is full of WIN. New Metroid game out next year I think too!

Super smash brothers melee made the gamecube. That game was tits and a blast to play with some friends. The only reason I regret selling my Wii is that game.
