Ready to Harvest?

As this is my first grow I figured I'd go ahead and ask the experts if I should harvest a few of these more mature ones off the cake and let the rest continue to mature or If i should leave them be and harvest them all at one time so i can dunk the cake after the first flush is done, Im not in any hurry just wanted to make sure I snag them off the cake at the right time....tell me what you guys think.

You can pick the ones with the open caps and leave those that haven't matured yet. Then, you can dunk and roll in vermiculite.
Edit: If you wait, you'll get spores everywhere and supposedly some potency will be lost...

use a straight blade knife and then use some H202 (hydrogen peroxide) on the sight of removal... cut as close to the base of the shrrom as you can without cutting the cake. GL

I don't think they loose any active but rather once the veils breaks it's speculated that the mushrooms become gram for gram less potent...as in the mushroom keeps growing in size but doesn't produce any more of the actives. I think the amount that is lost is negligible.

Nice job. Those open caps are ready to be picked, you can also pick them before the caps open up as much.

Nice, this thread actually answers my question too... I picked some off of my BRF cakes... I didn't cut 'em, they easily came off with a little twist/tug.
mistuhjonez, that's some nice photos... also, an interesting set up... what do you use in your fruiting chamber?

it is indeed a PMP, works pretty good so far...was a breeze to build as well, just had to make a drive for the geolite.
