 Something's wrong with this weed....

My friend just bought some mj of who I would consider at least an acquaintance, maybe even slightly a friend...
Anyway - he brought it back to our house and I noticed a number of things wrong with it.
1) It looked small for the amount we'd bought, although it weighed right.
2) It was very wet - not like good bud sticky, just wet - almost as bad as when you put a baggie through a wash, was very hard to toke...
3) After drying it, it took on a weird smell - like planty, but a bit like (my exact description) 'how I imagine chewing tin foil with fillings to smell.'
4) After smoking a bit of it in a pipe - it tasted kinda menthol - that cool feeling you get a the back of your throat.
5) My friend smoked a fair bit of it and doesn't feel at all high.
6) ...Oh yeah, forgot this one - when the pipe was put down - the cherry kinda crackled and fizzed - like one of those stay alight birthday candles just before it re-ignites...
So, anybody suggest what the hell were smoking? Should we continue or stop and facepunch this guy?

Um stop. It was probably weighed down with something. Salt water, sugar water, febreeze..who knows.

Sounds like they either did a shitty/rush job drying, or intentionally sprayed the weed down to make it weigh more.
I've had damp weed before and it sucks, make edibles, tell the kid you bought it from and if he doesn't hook you up next time don't buy from him again.

Doesnt sound like thats all thats wrong with it, we used to get sprayed bud in the uk all the time, sugar coated bud which left a rock hard ash, horrible to smoke. Infact i stil know people who deal it.
I wouldnt smoke anymore man, whats the point if it doesnt even give you a high. go and find some clean weed

Doubt it, I've smoked fresh buds after drying very fast in the toaster oven on low temp, while it's not the best taste unless you properly dry and cure, it doesn't crackle, smell and taste weird and not mentholy at all.
get your money back and tell the guy if he tries anything like that again that you're done. No need to kick his ass or be mean about the first time but let that shit happen again and the niceness doesn't last.

yeah if it doesnt even get you high i wouldnt bother/risk smoking or making edibles. Just go to 711 and find a real connect...or atleast better than that shit

It's probably just shitty wet weed that wasn't flushed properly. When weed crackles it's usually because there's still chemical residues of the growing products left on the plant. Since it wasn't dry, it probably also wasn't flushed, which is crucial to get rid of the chems.

In a way its a good thing but i would still facepunch him for not knowing what hese doing.
ps after you dry it take a 1 hitter if anything seems wrong put it down but if everthing seems ok toke it up man:]

sounds like maybe someone tried to water cure it and messed up, water curing is much faster than air curing but it totally messes with the flavor/consistency of the bud

Yea, that guy has no idea what he's talking about, but weight is the least of your worries.
The actual drying and curing process enhances everything about the cannabis. Starches are broken down to allow a better smoke, the cannabinoid profile changes drastically as well to provide an even better high. The drying/curing process is fucking crucial and when does right creates a much better product.
I also remember hearing about people spraying down weed with some weird type of silica that added weight and caused problems while smoking, however; this doesn't sound like that since it wouldn't necessarily make the weed "wet."
Sounds like you smoked some crappy unflushed cannabis that wasn't cured or dried at all. I would ask for my money back and not buy from the guy again.

about a month ago someone who I regurlarly bought high quality weed from sold me a quarter ounce of weed for $120. This weed turned out to be premature and it was oven dried. I could taste the chlorophyls upon smoking it. I was sooooooo fucking pissed off and I emailed him and told him about it. He didn't get back to me. I wouldn't pay $20 for that shit let alone $120.
Well he lost me as a regular customer and I even quit smoking because of it.
