Would yellow metabolites remain on cake after dunking?
    #11233006 - 10/12/09 12:49 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I couldn't find anything about this.  I have some yellowing on a cake in a few different spots during the last 10% or so of the colonization process.  I was just wondering if this yellow that is on the cake after I took it out of the jar would still be there after dunking for 24 hours or should it be gone (thus for sure distinguishing b/w contaminant versus metabolite)?  It is currently being "dunked" until tonight and was hoping I could check before rolling and birthing.  Thanks (and no, I don't have a camera, sorry).  Thanks!  Also, would a q-tip touched to the yellow parts come off or not come off if it were metabolites?

I think the metabolites stain if there's enough. had a cake retain that yellow tint throughout it's 5 flushes. I wouldn't worry unless it starts spreading.

Metabolites are liquids but can stain the cake.

Great thanks.  Is there any defining difference that you can use to tell the difference b/w yellow metabolites and a yellow mold?  I am using the PF tek (BRF/verm), so does that minimize the chance that it could be that really dangerous nasty yellow mold, since its primarily found growing on grain substrates?
