How long can I let my cooked jars uninoculated?
    #11232713 - 10/12/09 11:56 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I thought my package of syringes will arrive today but it didn't because of columbus day, but while I was waiting for the package, I pressured cooked my pf tek jars so I got the jars made but no syringe to inject in, so I guess the package will arrive tomorrow, but tomorrow I gotta work all day and only have time at night to inoculate, so I wonder if it is okay to let the cooked jars uninoculated? I'm talking about maybe 36 hours. Would I be fine to inoculate a cooked jar after 36 hours?

you'll be fine. just store in the fridge with tinfoil over the injection holes. i've inoculated my jars two weeks after they were steralized.

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

ages, if you are using your normal food fridge you might want to put the jar in a ziplock bag.

Yeah, you're fine. I steam sterilized in a big, closed frying pan for 60 mins and left em for a weekend before inoculation. Now 12 of 13 are exploding with growth, and no contam.

I would just leave them in the cooker until ready to use.
