The lowest common denominator is the smallest term that every denominator will divide into. In this case, it is $Formula: 1$ which is also equal to $Formula: 2$ .

So go through each term and find what the denominator is missing to look like that common denominator. The first term $Formula: 3$ is not missing anything, it already has the common denominator. The second term, $Formula: 4$ is missing a $Formula: 5$ to make it have the common denominator. So multiply it by $Formula: 6$ then it will have the common denominator. Apply that same procedure to the final term, look for what it is missing and multiply the top and bottom by that. Then all three of your terms will have the same denominator and you can multiply both sides by that denominator to cancel them all out.

ok, heres another question.

x²-1

isn't that called something special? i don't think it's just x(x-1).

isn't it called finishing the square? or imaginary number or something? :confused:

u might mean completing the square.

x^2 = 1

so x = plus or minus the square root of 1.

x = 1 or x = -1

they are both true.

an imaginary number would be something like the square root of negative one, which is i.
