Album review- Pink Floyd's "More"

Today I will review Pink Floyd's third album, the soundtrack from the movie called "More" (1969). You don't hear quite as much talk about this album when people bring up Floyd, but there should be. This is a very good psychedelic album.
The first two tracks on this album were on Relics. "Cirrus Minor" is such a hauntingly beautiful song. Just when that song has you chilled out, the second track comes on, and it's "The Nile Song", which is one of the hardest rocking Pink Floyd songs of all time. It's got such a kick ass, almost punkish style to it.
After that you have a bunch of delicious tracks which are all different, but get blended together beautifully. Some are instrumental, some have words, but all are wonderful Pink Floyd chill out tracks.
"Ibiza Bar" is another one of my favorites. It should have been called "The Nile Song 2", because that's exactly what it is. It's the exact same kick ass beat, back to kick your ass again(in a peaceful way of course).
After that comes "More Blues" and "Quicksilver". I think they dipped the reel that these were recorded on in acid. They're both just psychedelic freak out jams. "A Spanish Piece" is a strange spanish flavored spoken word track, and that's followed by the last song on the album which is "Dramatic Theme".
I love this cd. I'm now going to steal www.pooterland.com's rating system by giving this album 4 sugercubes.
In closing, I would like to thank phishytrip for trading this cd to me. You are the man.

What's with the sugar cubes?
-------------------- What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

Four out of a possible five sugar cubes.
That's my rating for this album.

This is a psychedelic album. One of the most popular psychedelic drugs is LSD-25, which is commonly distributed on sugar cubes by way of dropping the liquid LSD onto the cube.

It's such a close call for me. Picking which song is my favorite depends on what mood i'm in.
"Cirrus Minor" is such a great song though. I like the lyrical imagery they used with that one. So right now, i'll say that that's my favorite.

You could probably get it at your library, but I would get "Acid Dreams" Martin A. Lee or "Storming Heaven" by Jay Stevens.
The acid test book by Tom Wolfe was written second hand. He wasn't at most of the places he wrote about. There is a least one major part of the book that is complete bullshit. He claims that when the Pranksters drove up to the Millbrook mansion in New York where Leary and his clan stayed, that Leary was on a "three day trip", and never came out to see the Pranksters. The picture below is proof that Leary did come out and hang with the Pranksters on their bus.
