Seeming mycobag failure.. now what?
    #1122821 - 12/08/02 09:55 PM (15 years, 6 days ago)

A question at a friend (really) 's request...

8 Mycobags were innoculated according to instructions with 2.5 mL of spore solution from Sporeworks syringes- 4 with Equador, 4 with TC. 4 weeks later, not one sign of colonization in any one of the bags.

I'm told they have been sitting in total darkness at a steady 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit for the past 4 weeks. No contamination, but no good growth either.

He assumes this is a result of the spores not doing their job but my friend's not sure he would have received 2 bunk syringes of different strains...

Does Sporeworks ever replace spores if they don't appear to be viable? Would it be a mistake to try and innoculate the bags with a different, hopefully more active, spore solution from a different source or is the substrate in those bags now useless?

everybody's gonna want a dose.

I had the same problem and after like 5 weeks one of the bags turned almost black so I tossed them. Get in touch with sporeworks they sent me replacements might do the same for you.
