Help id a white bracket shroom, very indistict. found on dead wood, south east virginia. soft white flesh thoughout. not a puffball. not a hedgehog. looks like a polypore similar to "Ischnoderma resinosum" but no other colors but white. no brusing colors. it has a sweet smell. fibers radiate from attachment to outer surface. slightly older specimen has a continuous white with layer of spore like fibers on underside. Is it edible?
Thank you for replying to my sketchy description. this shroom must be a very young specimen. I have not been able to find info yet. it has the texture of a chicken mushroom but completely white thoughout and no layers. it looks like when it matured it may be a birch polypore. no bitter taste.
