Today's hunt

Russula sp. Pleasant taste
Marasmius sp. maybe M. rotula or M. androsaceus
This thing was huge. I am not good with Polypores. The closest guess I have is Piptoporus betolinus
Paxillus involutus
Hypholoma fasciculare
Spongebobitius squarepantia (meh... don't know what it is)
Russula. Sharp peppery taste that lingered for 20-30 minutes.
More pleasantly tasting Russula
Ramaria aurea
Armillaria sp.
Pastures I hunt for Psilocybe semilanceata (spot the Agaricus cluster in the second image)
More Hypholoma? Unusual habitat
Macrolepiota (Grannylepiota) procera var. bird bath
Panaeolus sphinctrinus
Hello dinner! Agaricus, most likely A. campestris, but possibly A. nivescens
Delicious!
And finally... what you've all been waiting for: Psilocybe semilanceata
Holy Elephantitis, Batman!

It was growing right out of a patch of what I am almost 100% sure were P. semilanceata. But no worries, these are not being consumed. The specimen is available for further examination. It's being spore printed and dried and will go into my herbarium.

This is definitely not a great season. I do not hunt P. semilanceata for recreational purposes anymore. These fields are in an area that I have been hunting libs at for over twenty years. When I first went to that field I found 1800 libs in 4 hours. Nowadays I find maybe a few dozen. The one in the first picture was completely empty. I will make a massive amount of spawn and spread it all over the fields that once used to explode with libs and are now almost depleted.

Not sure. Maybe the sinking groundwater level. I don't think it would be the only factor, though.

I can relate to your story regarding a once booming location(s)plentiful fruits of the forest many yrs a go and today you are lucky to find like a few dozen. Different Locations, habitats, climates makes it difficult to pin point reasons being for reduction. As for some of my locations here in Australia it could be a no. of causes over picking major forestry works ( can be very beneficial) Destructive behaviour IE kicking Logs throwing them around. Ive seen this all happen and I'm prob guilty too when young Naive and stupid Weather Control HAARP I really think that is one of the biggest mystery of the world. There one day gone the next Magic

I like to actively participate in spreading the magic. Making spawn is so easy if you got the spores, I might as well.

Super awesome. They ended up in a meat stew with sliced pork, onions, some Riesling-Chardonnay, cream, thyme, fresh ground black pepper and rosemary and some shredded and roasted potato cakes on the side.

that cream sauce sounds tight! i sometimes do black peppercorns and cream with a splash of brandy over a beef roast with mushrooms. it would be a really interesting study to see how different locations yield over the years, trying to identify as many factors as possible for why certain areas produce, then stop, while others seem to spring up out of the blue.
