Aztec Books
    #11226831 - 10/11/09 04:15 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Anyone know of any good books about the Aztecs that arent too boring...? I want to learn about them, but I have unmedicated ADD... and reading goes kinda slow for me sometimes, even if its information I am interested in...

Or a good website or something...

Any thing interesting or remotely exciting about Aztecs, or Mayan -like cultures or any of that shit... I really want to learn about that shit. Thanks!

Wikipedia has a nice variety on Aztecs and the rest of those guys. Olmecs and Toltecs and Maya and so on.

unmedicated ADD?

is that like

self diagnosed ADD?

have you been to a doctor about your "ADD?"

why do you highly doubt that I have ADD?

what makes me incapable of being diagnosed with ADD like the 15,202,000 other americans who are, in your opinion?

well as a bit of a hypchondriac myself

i think that "self diagnoses" are really just a defense mechanism for dealing with your true ailments

instead of going into things you do thinking "oh I have ADD i can't do this" etc. etc. you should just try and deal with the problems if you know what I mean. i for one think ADD is way  overdiagnosed, and the medication is much worse then any symptoms you may experience.

just trying to help out.

lol, yes ADD is a typical american disease  :lmafo:

I don't know what books to suggest but i do suggest you to check especially the mayan culture; it is often overlooked yet it has the most exquisite, intricate art, designs and writing. Truely fascinating culture. Way more than the aztek culture wich was less rafinate. What appears startling to me is how psilocybin inspired the mayan writing and drawings looks...it is unparalleled (in my opinion of course).

I wish you happy discoveries !

I suggest eating a lot of corn, and going down to your local home depot to observe the aztec's in their natural habitat.

yeah i understand that, and agree with it. Im just saying that i am just as ADD as the next american (if not more)... obviously im not telling myself "i cant do this" because i started a whole thread about myself wanting to read... i know i can do it, i was just searching for something that isnt like a laundry list of things they did, at what time. but with that said, i do have a hard time focusing, and its something I dont like, and would like any suggestions you have on trying to fix it myself...

If you have a hard time reading without getting bored, start out by reading some bullshit paperback novels. Over time it'll get easier.

I noticed a trend in american movies when the story takes place in an old mexican temple or involve some "aztek" artefact: it is ALWAYS innacurate (mixing different precolombian cultures) even a simple google search is more accurate than a millions dollars worth hollywood movie. How is that ? I guess opening books is too difficult...
