Here's six mil poly tubing from graingers.  They're 12" width, so that would make a straw log just over 7 1/2" thick.

Here's four mil tubing from U-Line.  The 16" width will give you a ten inch diameter log.

i use 7" right now and have plenty with 2 rolls but am finding out there will be 100% waste with the regular poly so i want to find corn plastic.

I wish cellophane would make a comeback.  The mycelium would eat it and there's no waste.  I agree, plastic sucks.  I'll be glad when unicorn bag company gives a greener alternative.  I'm going through over 1000 large spawn bags per month.

I doubt there will be a biodegradable replacement for polypropylene any time soon, which is unfortunate, since oil is just going to get more and more expensive.

As far as bioplastics are concerned, I use those biodegradable bags for kitchen scraps, and they seem to take quite a while to break down in the compost heap.  I should try doing an oyster grow in one of these bags.

Edit: I stand corrected!  http://www.cereplast.com/pressrealeasedetail.php?newsid=53
