Synchronizations and the afterlife...

My boyfriend lives with a family who has a son that was diagnosed with ALS, who I believe was diagnosed a year or two ago. Well, this morning they got a call from his wife (they live in Washington btw) who said that his dad better fly down because she didn't think he was going to be around much longer. He left immediately and upon arriving, his son said he didn't want to deal with it anymore and to pull his breathing tube. So they did and he passed away shortly after. Well as this was happening, his brother Charlie, who lives with my boyfriend, said that that night he turned on the television and a Steven Segal movie was on, something they would watch together when they were kids (this was prior to his brother's death.) That night/morning, Charlie had a lucid dream where he was talking to his brother and he told him something like that he was alright and that now that he's passed on, he understands it all and he knows and feels that his family loves him so much.
I think that this story is beautiful and shows us that death is nothing to fear. With Charlie having the Steven Segal synchronization, does this say that our destinies are planned out? Has anyone else had an experience similar to this? I would love to hear it :smile:

It could be that or that he wanted some comfort about his brother's disease and was thinking about his brother and got the dream. Lucidity could have been from practice or coincidence, the movie could be simple coincidence.

I find having free will much more comforting, so I'll believe in that...and really that's all that it comes down to, is which view (free will vs. fate/predestination/etc.) one finds more comforting.

I also believe in free will and do find that more comforting. But sometimes I question the nature of the universe and wonder if we are all pre-encoded with destinies or what have you...the mystery is what keeps me going :laugh:

Yes. Indeed I believe that we choose to come into this life and a lot of the events that we experience are but variations of events we have chosen.

But I also believe that we have freewill - and how we choose/decide to react to these pre-determined 'events' do not infringe on our free-will.
