WBS/BRF moisture buffer
    #11225881 - 10/11/09 12:32 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I've read posts where people add verm to WBS jars as a sort of protection against too much moisture, especially for those just starting with it. I have some WBS about ready to be jarred and PC'd and I'm wondering if adding, say, 1/4 cup of BRF to the quart jars just prior to PC'ing will accomplish the same sort of excess moisture buffer while also adding nutrients. I have read posts that say the BRF will make the grain clump and become pasty. What if I also add a little extra gypsum than I already intend to, to help avoid this. Is there a reason I shouldn't do this?

I would just stick to either WBS+gypsum or Rye+gypsum.  When it copmes down to BRF leave it for the PF tek.

Also if grains are made correctly you dont need verm to control to much moisture

That is pretty much what I assumed, I just thought that if there was a suitable way of combining the BRF with the WBS it may help to make the WBS more suitable for fruiting alone rather than spawning. It really seems like it probably isn't worth the potential trouble.

Verm's just going to throw your moisture off it it's right to start with.
