    #11224983 - 10/11/09 05:27 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

How much gypsum do you recommend adding to a sub mix of

1 brick of coir (about 8qts)
1 qt of coffee
1 qt of verm
1 gallon of water

Thanks

you've got 10quarts total substrate which breaks down to 40cups. Gypsum should equal 5-10% of your total substrate mix. Use 2-4cups(5-10%) Gypsum for that mix.

You're not supposed to include verm quantities when calculating your gypsum amounts because verm has no influence on acidity/pH-levels.

I use that mix.  I use a quart of gypsum.  In my experience, you'll need more than a gallon of water.

You'll also probably want to use some straw if available.  I throw some composted manure in there too.

1/2 to 1 quart of gypsum, but I'd add three or four quarts of verm, not 1.  Add water as necessary to get field capacity and pasteurize.
