It's sad to me that people are so paranoid about mushrooms that they will actually pay people to come and "organically remove them" from their yards...

Time to start the "mushrooms that grow in cow poo proven to decrease cattle market value" propaganda.
I would totally offer my services to remove said evil fungus for a low cost, and sometimes free of cost, to do my duty for the farmers and workers of the land...

That's hilarious!! So, they come out, take all the actives they find, charge you outrageous rates, and take 100x longer to clear a patch then is necessary! Maybe someone here should start up a business, "Makeme trip inc." or "Chargin-u-4-shrooms"

Here is an email I sent the guy. I doubt I will get a response since its a bit over the top...Someone should send a more believable one complaining that their teenage children are picking cyans in their yard landscaping and tripping out.
Hi
My name is Alan Smith, and I am in charge of landscaping at West Woodland Park in Seattle.
Recently we have had a psychedelic mushroom problem in the park - Hippies have been picking illegal species including:
Psilocybe cyanescens (the worst offender) Psilocybe baeocystis Psilocybe stuntzii Psilocybe subaeruginascens and Panaeolus cinctulus.
These hippies are creating a public safety problem by openly gathering their drugs in public.
Even worse, the first four species grow in the woodchips of the childrens playground (the one that replaced the sandbox). Parents watching their kids see these shady characters picking psychoactive fungi right next to the slide and they are worried that the kids will emulate their behaviour and eat the mushrooms, causing a medical emergency.
We have about 1200 square feet of landscaping that seems to support the psychoactive species. What kind of mitigations can you provide?
In addition the "Panaeolus cinctulus" problem has been brought to my attention - These psilocybin containing species grow in the irrigated lawn areas of the park. I saw three kids that couldn't be older than 16 picking quite a large amount of them today. Can you provide services that will stop these unwanted invaders from occurring in our lawn?
It has also been brought to my attention that the some of the oaks in the park are infected with "death caps". (or perhaps Amanita ocreata) This is a concern for children and dogs. Have you worked with removing death caps before?
Thanks for your help.

*I doubt he replies. You're just going to see one haggard old hippie walking around bent over scouring the ground in West Woodland Park.

Hope he doesn't you here instead of email. Really, if they know about/ and or really pursue active species, it seems there is a good chance they could be a member. I was researching another species, and all my google searches brought me right back here. Never know, he may tell you it'll take 3 weeks, 16 hrs a day and after his intro fee, he'll give you an estimate of $6048.00 to "clean up" your park.

Priceless
Of course if the guy is a member here and finds your post, he's snagged one of your e-mail addresses.
Hey, you can't blame a guy for trying. I thought his approach was pretty creative.

I think it's a good idea, you get paid to collect specimens for study and you may be able to prevent accidental intoxication/poisoning of children and pets, everyone wins! inski.
