i think i found a woodey

im still in my quest to learn as much as i can about the mushrooms that grow in the forest nearby..  please to help me identify these.
I think i found a psychoactive woodlover, but im  not sure.

#1 is a Bolbitius species.
#2 could be a Gymnopilus species but I'm not very good with that genus, wait for Alan or CureCat!
It could also be a Galerina species so be careful, don't consume any!

Is 1 a Bolbitius? are there any dung Psathyrells sp?
2 is a Gymnopilus but I doubt that it's active.

Yes there are dung dwelling Psathyrella species but I doubt it is with that gill colour!

Agreed, I just thought you might have a better guess at a species name than I would, Gymnopilus species are not very common here in NZ so I don't get to study them very often!

Growing on cow dung, small, fragile, cap 1-3cm across, no odor or taste.

Ahh bloody hell.  Now im at a cross road not knowing weather this is psychoactive or not. are there any other steps i could take into positively identifying it?  :psycrankey:

Yea get one.  Dry your Gym so you can check it out when the scope arrives.  Looking at it under the microscope will probably create more questions than it answers, but thats life.

Yes that one is good.

The trinocular port that is always on will let you hook up a camera / video camera to it all the time, which is cool, but if you don't need that feature you are better off with one that is not trinocular, since the always-on trinocular port will steal some of the light.

i found a list of shrooms in area of tx thats on the board somewhere and it list the following...

Gymnopilus aeruginosus
Gymnopilus junonius
Gymnopilus luteofolius
Gymnopilus luteoviridis
Panaeolus cyanescens
Panaeolus cinctulus
Psilocybe cubensis


none of which look exactly like this..  Just my opinion, im gonna keep search.  Theres a storm moving in. Boy i love the fall
