10 minutes late is your cutoff? that's a bit early, don't you think? especially if it's an hour and a half long class. hell, even a 50 minute class you've got plenty of class-time after the first 10 minutes.
10 minutes before the end, on the other hand, is a bit silly.
although, once i showed up to class 10 minutes AFTER it ended. hah. had to turn in a research paper that i totally procrastinated on. total of 23 pages (excluding sources), and i did 18 of those pages in as many hours... including all the research. i've never written that much nonfiction in a day before.

Now this I can understand; having to turn in a research paper or important homework assignment. But it's quite amusing to see X number of students just walk in 10 min before class ends with a stupid smile on their face like they're beating the system. :-P
Everyone else thinks they're an idiot.
Just like those test-takers that finish a research methods exam, for example- 15 minutes after it's given--and later getting a 63% on it, haha. This happened to a classmate last week...Everyone at first was like 'omg wow, he's already finished?' and when the grades come in, 'splat.'
amateurs.

i always hated the fuckers who finished early. made me feel bad. i always, always was one of the last to finish.

It used to make me 'feel bad'. Until I realized that they're the ones who usually do a lot worse than me. For example, I finished much later than the student who finished first, but I got an 86%, and he got a 63%.
I usually think about this and smirk a little at the first person who finished ridiculously fast. And when the class average is 64%, I just don't get impressed anymore by speed-testing. In the end, the only thing that shows on your transcript are the results XD.

It's always the same people who are like 10 minutes late to class... It's like come the FUCK on... just do whatever you have to do 10 minutes earlier... not that hard of concept. If I was a professor I'd have a strict lateness policy.

if i had a morning class, i would often be a few minutes late. especially if it was a big lecture class. the smaller ones i tried to be more punctual.
if i were a professor, i'd be rather lax about tardiness, and would probably be late myself from time to time. shit happens

thats what i did weekly during my Alvls, plus i didn't hand in any course work. ever. and still managed to scrape through to uni.

I have a class at 9 am on tuesdays and thursdays, but fortunately the building that it's held in is literally right next to my dorm 
The latest I've ever been to a class was by 30 minutes or so, I woke up at 10:51, and the class started at 10:30 hahaha. Luckily it's a math class I don't really care about (everything you learn in class you can learn on the website we do homework on). I only really go there to touch base.
I've never been late to a class besides that though

I really have no idea. I guess it's one of those words or phrases where when someone says it, you get what they're saying, but when you want to really define it, you can't hehehe.
But I mean that I just go to that class to make sure the professor's not gonna say something in class that isn't taught in the book or on the website. So far, he hasn't

Maybe they've had some sort of time conflict, or lost track of time, or had car trouble, or got caught in traffic. Maybe they need to talk to the professor about something or turn something in. Maybe they were late that day, but they have classes after that class and to kill time just showed up anyway. Maybe they think it looks better if they come in late and make an excuse to the professor than if they don't show up at all.
