I don't believe in Zeus as a real entity with every fiber of my being. Am I just another fundy in disguise?

Not believing in or beliving in something for which there is no evidence is an exercise in futility.

Both sides look foolish to me.

Gagnostics are spineless, wishy-washy, pussies. Even Jesus hated the lukewarm above all others. (I think that is in Luke...)

Sorry to hear that you have zero ability to discern fictional characters from real ones. It is not something to be proud of. :sorry:

There is evidence against Zeus though, so its not ridiculous to claim he doesnt exist.  The more well defined and specific characteristics a god has the more evidence there is against it.

care to elaborate?

lately, my attention has been towards anxiety...what it is, how it effects people, etc...just pretty much trying to get a solid concept of it

i am pretty much always under the subtle influence of anxiety, and only when i feel complete secure and calm and away from it, can i really take a different perspective and observe what it is, and what it does...

Try not to put too much stock in that post. It was a joke off the tip o the mind.

Anxiety is a bitch. I grew up with lots of it and basically it ruined my childhood and adolescence. It's not as bad now but it can resurface. Just the luck of the draw to be born with a good mind and be stuck with fundamentalist christian parents who were basically insane.:satansmoking:

Not all atheists "don't believe" in God...it's a common misunderstanding since a large part of our representative members are "explicit" atheist..."hard" atheists...this is in contrast to IMPLICIT atheism.  Same problem arises with agnosticism...Hard agnostics for example will argue full on that the existence of God is something which is, inherently, unknowable.  A soft atheist would likely not argue it because they see the existence of God not as unknowable, but simple unknown to them.

In the same way an implicit atheist doesn't disbelieve in God, they LACK a belief in a God, the distinction is fundamentally key.

Well said, and I agree wholeheartedly with extending this to apply to agnostics as well. Agnostics have traditionally enjoyed an unwarranted precedence in the philosophic tradition, from the tradition of Socrates onward. So much so, that these philosophers mistake the theme of their original intent for some kind of answer. One who posits his agnosticism in that same arena, in the same sense of pointedness is likely just characterizing his philosophic stagnation. Its easy to laugh at the fundamental extremists, but the liberal in spirit never actually demonstrates itself any better.

What about people who accept all belief systems as a reflection of the circumstances inflicted on the "individual" so that their solutions to reality are all equally grounded and in different contexts than our own?  Do we just go shit in a lake somewhere?
