Armillaria ostoyae -- Largest living organism
    #1122115 - 12/08/02 03:12 PM (19 years, 2 days ago)

I would like to grow a clone from this humongous fungus. If you're not sure what I'm referring to then please read this. If anyone could give me any information on how to obtain a living culture it'd be mucho appreciated. I don't know the fruiting parameters of the honey mushroom, but just growing the myc would satisfy me.

Is that the one lives in Michigan or Washington? I would contact Mycology or plant patholgy professor in those states and beg real nice for a culture, or go to those state when it fruits and hike about in the forest. Outside of genetic analysis though it would be hard to tell if either was 'true'.

That would be cool tho'

I haven't seen A. ostoyae myc but A. mellea looks very similar.

I didn't notice but I will do more tests. It might be substrate dependent.
