The biggest favour you could do me

I often wonder to myself that perhaps the biggest favour one could do me is in my happiest, most fulfilled moment, put a barrel to the back of my head and pull the trigger (read: end me without my knowledge).
For all the attachment, joy, love, happiness, and pleasure I experience I will have to endure a seemingly equivilant sorrow stemming from the absence of said enjoyment. Sex, food, drugs, love, children, a nice car, a great house, anything I can imagine, you lose it all in the end. We all die alone. The only exemptions I see are for those who die before their partner, regardless I am under the assumption facing death that immediately would bring the full force of losing everything you love.
In the happiest moment of my life I'd likely be distracted enough to not think of how whatever-it-is-that-has-made-me-so-happy, I will now start down the steady hill of losing.
This is just a thought I've had several times. Of course, this is a pipe dream.

I can dig that. Dying happy is dying in the most important moment of your life. Your last.

If only.
Instead, knowing this, I will still invest myself as deeply as I can into the things I love to experience the most I can, and I'll do my best to enjoy the sorrow that follows. People like to think life is good and not bad, but sadly it's both.

I could not agree more, but it is rather selfish.

Then he is not omnipotent... Is he able but not willing? Then he is malevolent... Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him god." Epicurus c. 300 BCE "When I brought up the fact that 'No drug is good or bad, they're all just A drug, what someone does with them determines the postive or negative outcome. Look at medicine, those are drugs' Reponse was that 'well medicine solves problems' well so does LSD." -Learningtofly

Yes, it would be. Part of me understands this, and another part wonders why that would matter to me if I were dead.

How am I meant to know when you are at your happiest, most fulfilled moment?
And I assume this is only past tense measurement of happiness, just in case there would have been even happier and more fulfilled moments afterwards that you never had a chance to experience because I have an itchy trigger finger. Which also leads me to ponder, you wouldn't be pissed at me for shooting too early would you?! Well if you were and didn't haunt me, then at least I wouldn't hear about it. Hell, might as well shoot you now, get it over and done with, and save on all the guessing...

Many people that are about to die, or had near death experiences realize how meaningless a lot of the things they love are. They tend to focus on the people, and thats about it.

Hard to think about your 4PM hair appointment when you are crushed and dying in a car crash.

I wouldn't mind living forever.. I would get to stop worrying about some things and enjoy life more... but I don't want my body to age. living in an old decrepit shell that is way past its used by date (which I put around 60, although people can still enjoy life past that point if they have secured themselves health and hobbies) does not sound like a nice eternity. I just don't want to die before acheiving my dreams, because that would be a shame. If you killed me now, I can die happily knowing that my life was worthwhile and that I uncovered much more of my universe than most human beings that have lived. But while I live I still see the shame in not uncovering even more and being able to share it with people just as appreciation for the universe was shared with me throughout my life (helping me acheive satisfaction in my meaning in the world).

I'm not very good with guns, so it might hurt...
But I'm persistent! ...so it shouldn't hurt for very long... maybe.

Is that what helps you sleep at night after you've spewed bullshit through out the Philo-Socio-Psych forum?

You obviously don't know how important it is to have good hair in public, especially if you're about to die since there may be many photos taken.

Doooon't think it really matters if you're underwear were clean before the accident.
