Something That Happens Where I Live...

In Pacific Grove, CA.

It's called the "marine layer"

From Wikipedia:

"The inversion itself is usually initiated by the cooling effect

of the water on the surface layer of an otherwise warm air mass.As

it cools, the surface air becomes denser than the warmer air above

it, and thus becomes trapped below it. The layer may thicken

through turbulence generated within the developing marine layer

itself."

I lived near LA for four years.  Less than a mile from the ocean.  I remember the seeing marine layer quite frequently.

I remember my first few time seeing it I thought it was the famous smog... but later from mountain tops overlooking the valleys, I seen what smog really looked like.

It's a really great time to walk down to the bay (5 minute walk to monterey bay) in the morning with a big thermos of coffee, your bowl, and some bomb weed and just chill down by the water and smoke, drink some coffee, have a cigarette then walk back home with the ipod.

very very fun....

now time to clean... and go out for breakfast...
